Requiem 2000 dimensions variable

Requiem is an installation completed in the Summer of 2000 at the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, New York. This work addresses the memories of the artist after the death of her grandmother. The installation is composed of fifteen dresses and matching pairs of shoes. Both the dresses and the shoes are based on patterns found from the 1940’s through the 70’s; the time period in which the artist’s most vivid memories of her grandmother exist. The materials used in the creation of these objects are translucent and fragile. The artist sees this work as a visual memory or the manifestation of a dream.
